Deraak Cable Car
Shiraz, as one of the prominent destinations for domestic and international tourists, has great potential for the implementation of a cable car system. The idea of establishing the Shiraz cable car project is focused on the northwestern region of the city, specifically in the 10th district near the Hosseini Alhashemi Highway. This picturesque and eye-catching mountainous area offers the capacity to transport 5,000 passengers daily on two routes within the Derak Heights.
The mountainous cable car project in Derak, Shiraz aims to create a recreational and tourist space in the western mountains of Shiraz, catering to the leisure time of the city’s residents. The project encompasses various components, including the starting station, a 3-hectare administrative and technical building, a cable car line measuring 16 km in total length, occupying an area of 3.2 hectares, and the destination station with additional facilities covering a total of 3 hectares. The intermediate station is designed to provide services such as a large Ferris wheel with a view of Shiraz’s gardens, an aquarium museum, and open green spaces for picnicking. In this project, a specialized cable car design team was responsible for visualizing the stations and cable car supports, while our design team took on the task of creating a unique and innovative atmosphere in the city of Shiraz. Throughout the process, we conducted various meetings with landscape architecture team to determine the suitable vegetation coverage in harmony with Shiraz’s climate. The urban design team worked on developing a comprehensive 3D document for the project, defining activities and architectural forms, while the architects focused on designing the main project buildings. Together, we designed a multifunctional project. Additionally, one of the objectives of the project is to design the cable car lighting and tourist complexes in a way that these lights are visible from the city. The project also includes a hiking trail alongside the cable car, with all necessary support services planned and designed along the route.
