Yazd Dry River project
In 2021, I worked on the Yazd Dry River project in Iran, a 9 km-long transformation of a dry riverbed into a vibrant urban public space. The project was divided into two phases: the Naji program, focusing on short-term actions, and the Mana program, aimed at long-term sustainability.
My role in this project was to contribute to the ecological design and ensure that the revitalization efforts were both resilient and climate-adaptive. We focused on improving the environmental quality of the area, making it a place where residents, visitors, and tourists could enjoy a high-quality urban space. To achieve this, I collaborated closely with a multidisciplinary team, including urban planners, environmental scientists, and construction experts.
We used a three-dimensional master plan to guide the project, which involved defining urban design policies that met environmental standards. My contribution included developing design-oriented planning solutions that aligned with these standards, ensuring that the riverbed regeneration would be sustainable and resilient to future climate challenges.
One of the key achievements was creating a framework that accelerated the development and regeneration of the Dry River. This framework not only provided immediate improvements but also set the stage for long-term ecological preservation and climate adaptation. By working with advanced 3D modeling software, we were able to visualize the impact of our designs and communicate effectively with stakeholders, helping them see the benefits of our approach.
Throughout the project, I was deeply involved in the learning process, constantly improving my digital literacy and gaining new insights into ecological and environmental science concepts. I also played a role in persuading city managers and other stakeholders to support our design, emphasizing the importance of creating a resilient and sustainable urban space.
In summary, the Yazd Dry River project was a significant experience where I applied my skills in ecological design, climate adaptation, and teamwork. It taught me the value of working collaboratively across disciplines to create innovative, holistic solutions that meet both immediate needs and long-term sustainability goals.
