Harmonia Utopia
In the realm of urban design, every building can be likened to a musical instrument within a grand symphony. While it’s conceivable to evaluate each structure in isolation as an independent musical piece, it’s truly appreciated and assessed when experienced in harmony. According to the theoretical framework underpinning this project, “narrative” serves as a bridge, interpreting the languages of words and musical grammar while also governing their representation within urban spaces.
This project emerged by translating the musical language of Albinoni’s Adagio symphony into the language of architecture and urban design. The aim was to reflect the musical essence of utopia in the components of urban design, including form, space, and activity.
The allocated land was transformed into a neighborhood that embodies key principles of urban design, encompassing gateways, discoverable spaces, hierarchy, the transition from private to public realms, centrality, evocativeness, duality, spatial definition, connection with nature, and the notion of leaving space. At its heart, three cultural-commercial-oriented squares offer services to the residential areas. The green buffers surrounding the neighborhood serve as both a per capita source of green space and an entrance income. Furthermore, residential complexes prioritize pedestrians, with independent semi-public areas, while parking lots are situated beneath residential buildings.
