Baharestan Square

The perception of a landscape is shaped by the interplay of events in both space and time. Landscape narratives are constructed within three interconnected realms: (1) the narrative itself, (2) the context in which it exists, and (3) the discourse surrounding it.

There exist four archetypal narratives: (1) the wilderness narrative, (2) the modernization narrative, (3) the subsistence narrative, and (4) the endogenous development narrative. Appleyard proposed a design concept grounded in several core principles, including:

  • Sustained progression towards a central objective akin to a rhythmic wave.
  • The establishment of a foundational rhythm within the scenes.
  • Utilization of elevation to gain panoramic vistas over vast distances.
  • Repetition of nodes, like connections to rivers or entry points into focal areas.
